The School of Future Technology was established in December 2021 to proactively respond to the technological revolution brought about by rapid scientific and technological development, seizing the initiative in future technological development, and solidly promoting the further deepening, expansion, and breakthroughs of new engineering disciplines, while cultivating forward-looking and strategic talents for future scientific and technological innovation. In April 2023, the School was approved as one of the first batch of Future Technology School construction units in Shaanxi Province.
The School offers six undergraduate programs: Architecture, Urban and Rural Planning, Environmental Science, Intelligent Construction, Mechanical Engineering, and Materials Science; and five graduate majors: Ecology, Geotechnical Engineering, Structural Engineering, Environmental Science and Engineering, and Cultural Relics. Currently, the School has 458 enrolled students (296 undergraduates, 143 master's students, and 19 doctoral students).
Adhering to the principles of "broad scope, solid foundation, deep interdisciplinary studies, and strong integration," the School has explored and formed a talent cultivation model that integrates undergraduate and doctoral studies and crosses disciplines. It adopts heuristic teaching and small-class instruction (20 students per class).Through disciplinary integration, curriculum synthesis, and industry-academia collaboration, the School has established a research-oriented curriculum system consisting of seminar courses, case study courses, and cutting-edge technology courses. It also deepens strategic partnerships with world-renowned universities and incorporates internationally advanced course content. Furthermore, the School employs a “full-process mentorship system”to cultivate top-tier innovative talents in the field of architectural science and technology, serving as a pilot zone for educational reform and talent development within the university.
The School's first cohort of undergraduate graduates achieved a further study rate of over 97% and an employment rate of 100%. They won numerous honors, including Model Class, May Fourth Red Flag Youth League Branch, and Exemplary Class for Academic and Examination Integrity. The effectiveness of the School's talent cultivation has been featured in special reports by mainstream media such as the People's Daily and China Education Daily.
