School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering

The School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering was established in 2018 through the integration of the Chemical Engineering and Technology program from the former School of Metallurgical Engineering and the Applied Chemistry program from the School of Science. Since its inception, the School has adheredthe educational philosophy of “Cultivating Virtue and Erudition, Pursuing Innovation and Foresight.” Grounded in the nation's major needs for energy transition and green low-carbon development, the School focuses on the interdisciplinary convergence of chemistry, chemical engineering, energy, and the environment, and is committed to building a high-level institution with distinctive characteristics and core competitiveness.

The School currently has two undergraduateprograms: Chemical Engineering and Technology, and Applied Chemistry. The Applied Chemistryprogramwas approved as a provincial first-class undergraduate programdevelopment initiativein 2020. Graduate programs include a master's program in Chemical Engineering and Technology (first-level discipline), a professional master's program in Materials and Chemical Engineering, and a doctoral program in Environmental Chemistry under the first-level doctoral discipline of Environmental Engineering. The chemistry discipline and the biology and biochemistry discipline have consistently ranked in the top 1% globally in ESI, while the chemical engineering discipline has been listed in the Shanghai Ranking's “World-Class Disciplines” for five consecutive years.

The School has 78 faculty and staff members, including 11 professors, and all full-time faculty members hold doctoral degrees..Currently, it hasover 800 enrolled students, including nearly 300 postgraduate students and over 500 undergraduates, has cultivated more than 1,400 graduates to date. The School implements a “Classroom Revolution” and “Innovation andEntrepreneurshipEducation initiatives”, andestablishedan “AcademicTutorialSystem”, achieving outstanding outcomesintalent cultivation. The School has developed a student affairs framework with distinctive chemical engineering characteristics featuring“One Core Principle and Four Parallel Initiatives,”and continues to enhance the visibility and impact of its“Six Hallmarks”student affairs initiatives. The graduate employment rate has exceeded 94% for consecutive years, and the rate of undergraduates pursuing postgraduate studies has reached as high as 54%, ranking among the top in the university.

The School hosts several provincial and ministerial-level research platforms, including the Shaanxi Province International Joint Research Center for Clean Chemical and Metallurgical Processes. In recent years, it hasledover 40 national-level scientific research projects and more than 100 provincial and ministerial-level projects, yielding a number of significant research outcomes. The School has also actively expanded cooperation with countriesparticipatingthe Belt and Road Initiative, fostering a new landscape of multi-level and wide-ranging international exchange and collaboration.
