The history of the College of Information and Control Engineering can be traced back to the Radio Engineering program established at our university in 1960. In 1972, the Electrical Automation program for industrial and mining enterprises was launched. In 1986, the Department of Automatic Control was formed by merging the Automation program with the Computer Science and Technology program, and in 1999, it was renamed the College of Information and Control Engineering.
The school currently has 154 faculty and staff members, including 20 professors and 43 associate professors. Additionally, 71 experts from major enterprises have been appointed as part-time mentors for the school.
The school offers doctoral programs in two secondary disciplines: Intelligent Building Environment Technology and Information Management and Information Systems. It also offers master’s programs in three primary disciplines: Computer Science and Technology, Control Science and Engineering, and Intelligent Science and Technology, as well as one professional master’s program in Electronic Information. The school currently offers five undergraduate programs: Automation, Computer Science and Technology, Communication Engineering, Artificial Intelligence, and Robotics Engineering. Among these, Computer Science and Technology and Automation are both designated as “National First-Class Undergraduate Program Construction Sites” and have passed the China Engineering Education Accreditation. The school currently has over 2,300 students, including more than 1,700 undergraduates and over 600 graduate students.
The School comprises three departments and two experimental centers. It houses multiple research institutions, including the Institute of Automation Technology, the Laboratory of Intelligent Sensing and Operation Maintenance for Building Environments, the Laboratory of Swarm Robotics and Swarm Construction, and the Laboratory of Intelligent Automation Technology for Building Manufacturing. Additionally, the School has established joint research centers with renowned enterprises such as China Baowu Steel Group Corporation Limited and China State Construction Engineering Corporation. Over the past three years, the School has undertaken more than 50 national and provincial/ministerial-level research projects and over 100 industry-sponsored projects, winning numerous provincial science and technology awards and engaging in extensive academic exchanges
