The School of Management at Xi'an University of Architecture and Technology has a long-standing history in management education dating back to 1956. It is one of the first two institutions in China to establish the "Building Economic Organization and Planning" program，the predecessor of the Engineering Management program. The Department of Management Engineering was founded in 1980 and was renamed the School of Management in 1999.
The School currently has 112 faculty and staff members, including 89 full-time faculty members, among whom are 19 professors and 27 associate professors. Its distinguished faculty includes: one former Vice Chair of the Teaching Guidance Committee of the Ministry of Education (MOE); one member of the MOE Teaching Guidance Committee; one Chair of the Assessment Committee of the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development; one Chair and two members of the Shaanxi Provincial Teaching Guidance Committee; one recipient of the State Council Special Government Allowance; one national high-level overseas talent; two recipients of the National Postdoctoral Overseas Talent Introduction Program; one Sanqin Scholars Innovation Team; one Sanqin Talents Special Support Plan National First-Class Team; one Sanqin Talents Special Support Plan Provincial First-Class Team; and 11 recipients of provincial-level talent titles, including Leading Talents and Young Top-Notch Talents of Shaanxi Province.
The School boasts a comprehensive academic program structure, comprising one Ph.D. program and one Postdoctoral Station (both in Management Science and Engineering), two First-Level Disciplines for Master’s degrees, two Professional Master’s programs (MBA, MEM), and five undergraduate programs.. The first-level discipline of Management Science and Engineering is a National Key (Cultivation) Discipline, a Key Discipline of Shaanxi Province, and a Featured Advantage Discipline of Philosophy and Social Sciences in Shaanxi Province.
The School hosts four provincial and ministerial-level research platforms,,a provincial experimental teaching demonstration center overseeing seven university-enterprise joint laboratories, and 31 research, internship, and training bases in collaboration with institutes and enterprises. Integrating into national and regional strategies, it has developed distinctive research directions and led or participated in over 100 major projects in infrastructure, consulting, and urban-rural planning, with widely practical applications.
In recent years, the School has received over 50 national and provincial/ministerial awards, undertaken more than 100 high-level research projects, including those funded by the NSFC and the NSSFC, and published over 1,000 high-quality academic papers in reputable journals. The Engineering Management program has been rated as "Excellent" for five consecutive cycles. For many years, the program has been ranked 5★ (top 1%) in the evaluation by the China Science Evaluation Research Center and rated A-Level in the "China University Evaluation" by the China Management Science Research Institute.
In response to national and regional development and the demand for innovative talents, the School will leverage its strengths, integrate emerging technologies such as green solutions, AI, and digital twins, and advance the “Four+” pathway: Intelligence+, Green+, Health+, and International+. It aims to cultivate high-quality talents, conduct advanced research, and support regional development.
