XAUAT School of Architecture Team Led by Prof. Gao Bo Receives Commendation in the 2025–2026 UIA 2030 Awards

XAUAT News Network — Recently, the Glass Brick Dwelling in Bayi Village, Weinan, a project designed by the team led by Prof. Gao Bo of the School of Architecture, received a Commendation in the 2025–2026 UIA 2030 Awards. The results of the third cycle of the award were announced at the 13th Session of the World Urban Forum, held in Baku, Azerbaijan. A total of 35 projects from around the world were shortlisted, with 31 receiving awards.

The XAUAT project was one of only three projects from China to receive a Commendation. The three recognized projects span a range of areas, including rural housing, urban planning, and public architecture, reflecting the diverse approaches to sustainable design in China. The project was entered in Category 3: Adequate, Safe and Affordable Housing, which focuses on improving the quality of housing while addressing the challenges of affordability and limited resources.

The UIA 2030 Award is a biennial programme jointly initiated by the International Union of Architects (UIA) and UN-Habitat. It is a leading international award in the fields of architecture, landscape architecture, and urban planning, with a focus on sustainable development. Closely aligned with the United Nations 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, the award places particular emphasis on Sustainable Development Goal 11 (SDG 11): Sustainable Cities and Communities and the key objectives of the New Urban Agenda. It recognizes architectural projects that make meaningful contributions to the implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and the New Urban Agenda.
