News Network of XAUAT — On June 2, a delegation of experts from the Energy in Buildings and Communities Programme (IEA-EBC) of the International Energy Agency visited Xi’an University of Architecture and Technology (XAUAT) for academic exchange. President Zhao Xiangmo met with the delegation at the Ziqiang Conference Room of the Yicheng Innovation Center. More than 20 experts and scholars from France, Denmark, the United Kingdom, Germany, Spain, Portugal, Italy, Türkiye, and other countries participated in the exchange. Vice President Wang Yi chaired the meeting.

On behalf of the University, President Zhao extended a warm welcome and sincere greetings to the visiting experts. He introduced XAUAT’s history, disciplinary strengths, research and innovation platforms, and achievements in internationalization. He highlighted the University’s distinctive advantages and development vision in the fields of green buildings, building environments, and smart materials. He emphasized that XAUAT places great importance on international scientific collaboration and joint talent cultivation, and expressed the University’s expectation of establishing long-term, stable, and mutually beneficial partnerships with the IEA and experts from around the world. He noted that such cooperation would help advance frontier research, joint innovation initiatives, and the translation of research outcomes into practical applications.

Speaking on behalf of the IEA-EBC delegation, Christian Serre, a member of both the French Academy of Sciences and Academia Europaea, highly commended XAUAT’s academic strengths in green buildings, energy and environmental systems, and low-carbon technologies. He expressed his willingness to strengthen collaboration with XAUAT through participation in IEA research activities and academic exchanges.

During the meeting, Yang Xudong, Vice Chair of the IEA-EBC and Professor at Tsinghua University, Menghao Qin, Carsten Rode, and Ioannis Papakonstantinou, among other scholars, engaged in in-depth discussions on the IEA’s future research priorities and potential cooperation mechanisms.
Prior to the meeting, the delegation toured the University’s Innovation Center. Representatives from the State Key Laboratory of Green Building, the Interdisciplinary Innovation Institute, and the Office of International Affairs also attended the meeting.
